Murals--I've done 2 murals.

The first was the 6ft tall by 17 ft long rendition of Packer John who was one of the first humans in Meadows Valley. It was part of a display for the Packer John exhibition put on by the  Adams Country Historical Society located in the old railroad depot building in New Meadows, Idaho. The second mural was the rear view of a bull elk as pictured on this page. The painting is owned by an avid sportsmen and is part of his gun room. When I asked why he didn't want a different view of an elk he said that this was the way that you usually saw them--leaving the seen. How true that is!

The other animals shown here are some of the various pet portraits that I have done over the years. Dogs are man's best friend without and doubt and they are so loved by their owners that they memorialize them in paintings. Cats are also special and loved and the owners also have a need to remember them. Those of us who have had dogs and cats over the years know exactly how these folks feel. I raised Australian Shepherd herding dogs for several years. I loved them all with all my heart. Several have been gone for a few years but I remember them and I will one day do a painting of those special friends. I could easily line the walls with dog paintings and cat paintings as well as the portrait of some special cattle and horses. Animals all have personalities and it is important to get that look in the eye, that tilt of the head and any other trait that says who they are. It's all part of what makes them each special.

Unique Art On Wood and Unusual Surfaces

Unique Art On Wood and Unusual Surfaces

These pieces are all done on some special supports that you don't commonly see. They make wonderful topics of conversation and bring the woods right into your home. I like to use these to focus the attention on a particular animal. Many have been wild animals with deer living on several. I've also painted horses on wood.

The surfaces are two different things. One is a conk that grows on the remains of dead trees. They are actually called artist's conks. The other surface that I use for a lot of the paintings are actually pine limbs. The pine trees grow on our ranch and we lose several each year to beetles. My husband who is an ex-logger cuts the trees down, mills them into lumber and makes furniture or sells the blued pine lumber.  A few years ago I talked him into cutting some of the larger limbs into pieces that I could paint on. If you would like to see some of his furniture and other creations you can check out this facebook link. In the summer he is busy ranching but in the winter he puts his skills to work and makes tables, chairs, wine bottle holders etc. Since it isn't a full time job and only seasonal, he doesn't have a website.   https://www.facebook.com/Cliffs-Wood-Works-108204710872277
